The Butoh company "TOMOE SHIZUNE & HAKUTOBO" has produced two video works that record the company's music, Butoh, and their creative methods.
We are pleased to announce the opening of the "TOMOE ONLINE THEATER" and the special free delivery of these two works online from Thursday, 14th May, 2020. Through the brilliance of the life of these works, we wish to support the people who struggle while COVID-19 is spreading to the world and those who are waiting at home for the vitality. (At this stage, the delivery of these two works is scheduled until Tuesday, 30th June, 2020).
As a show of support, we're extending the delivery period:
We would like to express our support for the EU-Japan Fest Japan Committee's Online Action Funding Program, which expresses our strong solidarity with all those who are on the brink of despair, both at home and abroad, as well as our wish to continue our participation in this program during the period of self-restraint due to the spread of COVID-19. We will continue to provide free delivery.(~ May 30, 2022)

The free distribution, which has been extended for a long time since it started on May 14, 2020, will end on May 30, 2022.

These our online activities empathizes with the wishes of "Financial Support Program for On-line Activities" by EU-Japan Fest Japan Committee, they support Japan-related programs in European Capitals of Culture, and we join with their support program. This program aims to support the activities of artists and to give a strong heart of solidarity to many citizens and artists in Europe, as well as to all people in Japan and all the world who are now in despair. It is held up the message "Keep going TO GETHER".

This work has been long-awaited as a masterpiece which is not performed in public since it was staged 31 years ago in 1989. This valuable video will be recorded in full and will be released for the first time. The story of a seed that fell to one point on the stage, and a tree that grew bravely and dignifiedly there. Amid the sounds of TOMOE SHIZUNE’s exquisitely beautiful Guitar piece, the dancers’ bodies overflow with life and love of nature.

The work contains Butoh works and methods by TOMOE SHIZUNE in omnibus format. It will be re-edited and published based on what was provided as the text for the Butoh course at the Grotowski Institute, Poland by TOMOE SHIZUNE & HAKUTOBO, 2018. (The Grotowski Institute is engaged in a wide range of research related to physical expression, as well as physical training based on the research of the prominent Polish director Jerzy Grotowski [1933-1999] who founded the experimental theater [Teatr Laboratorium] in 1959.) It also contains the work（Special Movie）"Dawn, a Silent Tear" performed at this institute with the guitar music by TOMOE SHIZUNE. The coaction between Tomoe's music and Butoh is highlight.
